Meet The District Governor
Bret Hrbek joined the Rotary Club of Front Royal in 2001 and became a board member in 2016, serving as club president in 2019-2020. He served as District Youth Coordinator and Interact Chairman from 2019-2023 and chaired the district’s Youth & Peace in Action Implementation Committee in 2020-2021. In 2017 Bret traveled with Rotarians from across the nation in a National Immunization Day delegation to India to deliver polio vaccinations. Bret is a member of the Paul Harris Society, the PolioPlus Society, the Bequest Society, a benefactor and a RLI graduate. Bret and his wife, Jessica, are Major Donors. Besides Rotary, Bret is a member of the Board of the Community Foundation of the Northern Shenandoah Valley and president of the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation.
Rotary Club of Forest
On May 5, State Delegate Tim Griffin (53rd District) presented the Rotary Club of Forest with a certificate of HR703, a resolution passed by the Virginia House of Delegates during the recent General Assembly session. The stated purpose of the resolution is to commend the Rotary Club of Forest for their annual Field of Honor project, the playground equipment that they have installed at the Forest Public Library, and the general efforts to promote the welfare of the community.

The Rotary Club of Rockingham County (Virginia) installed a 3rd Peace Pole in Harrisonburg and has registered a total of 19 Peace Poles, many that existed prior to our club's efforts to plant additional Peace Poles in Rockingham County and Harrisonburg City. Today DG Bret had the privilege of representing District 7570 at the Opening Ceremony of the Rotary Intercountry Committee (ICC) between the United States and Israel. This historic partnership reflects the heart of Rotary—building peace, fostering international understanding and creating lasting friendships across borders.
Together with District Governors from across the U.S. and Israel, we celebrated the formal chartering of this ICC, which will serve as a powerful platform for future collaboration, service and shared impact.
Special thanks to the organizing team, and to District Governors from Israel and Districts 5010, 5420, 5500, 6040, 6250 and 7620 for their leadership and vision.

The Lexington Sunrise Rotary Club has received a grant for $72,000 to deliver special pediatric wheelchairs in Ecuador. The project is the collaboration of The Rotary Foundation, District 7570, District 7610 (Northern Virginia), Rotary District 7670 (western North Carolina), and The Wheelchair Foundation. There is an estimate that there is a need for 100 million wheelchairs in the world. Latin America is one of the most neediest areas. These wheelchairs will go to children who have neurological disorders coming from birth defects, exposure to toxic substances, or a number of causes. Locals believe that pesticides sprayed on the fields years ago are responsible for the high number of birth defects.
