  • Brief Description:
The Club makes significant efforts to promote its public image through upcoming Rotary events, sending out press releases of Club/Member news, and being prepared with statements to the Press as needed. There are several media outlets that cover our area including WZRV 95.3FM, the Northern Virginia Daily, the Warren Sentinel, the Warren County Report, the Royal Examiner, and local public access channel 15. This year a number of press releases were sent out and covered by all the local media outlets, and several in particular caught the attention of the press. The Club increased its annual giving from $126,370 to $137,817; a new Club record. The Club continued its Coats-4-Kids program in 2019 providing 112 coats to needy children in the community. The Club also awarded 3 scholarships totaling $21,000 to local students another record amount for our Club.

The Club advertises its events and activities through its website at www.frontroyalrotary.org, and its Facebook page @FrontRoyalRotary features our Club’s various meetings/activities, members’ participation in local and international charity events and projects, fundraisers, Rotary, and our social gatherings. One of the new things we have done in the past year is doing Facebook Live segments of our weekly speakers. This has helped to get our message out to a wider audience.

  • Participation of Club Members:
There are two Club members primarily responsible for the public image campaign, but each and every Front Royal Rotarian participates by submitting the news articles to the committee, participating in events that are news worthy, or by promoting their events or special projects. The committee makes sure to bring various committee members into interviews for the various articles/video sessions to have them tell their stories. Club members are also involved through sharing information on social media sites.

    Resulting Benefits:
It allows the community and region to know who and what Rotary is and how our Club is contributing back to our community, both locally and globally.

  • Resulting Benefits:
The Doc Smith Christmas Basket Program and Club grant awards engage our entire Club membership. The Doc Smith baskets are packed by our Club members at a regular club meeting so everyone has the opportunity to be involved. The following day, Club members and interactors participate in the delivery process by carrying out the boxes to recipients cars or delivering them to their homes. This also allows the Club to involve their children and gives them a great example of those who are less fortunate and live in our community. The Club received significant press coverage on the program - https://www.nvdaily.com/nvdaily/rotary-distributes-food-boxes-during-holidays/article_bbe57f10-4319-5ae5-b5f0-d5d1337f1648.html.

The Student Athlete Award provides significant coverage both in the local press and at the graduations at each of our two high schools as students are recognized for their achievements.

The Community Grant program is an annual contribution the Club has made since 1976.
