Imagine what can happen in the next 100 years with Rotary! Several clubs in our District are celebrating their 100th Anniversary as an active Rotary club. Here’s an excerpt from the Harrisonburg club’s celebration! Congratulations!! "On June 16, 2022, the Rotary Club of Harrisonburg celebrated its Centennial at Bluestone Vineyard, the business of a longtime member. Although not the grand plan the Club had envisioned due to the various limitations that emerged as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, over 100 Rotarians - both past and present, and from various local Clubs - were in attendance to celebrate 100-years of service to Harrisonburg/Rockingham and beyond. Mostly a networking event, rotarians were encouraged to connect and reconnect with one another over food and wine. Current President Braydon Hoover gave a welcome that highlighted major projects the Club undertook since its inception in 1921, including the establishment of Camp Shenandoah, the Shenandoah National Park, medical centers in South Korea and Haiti, as well as in Harrisonburg, raising millions for hospitals, libraries, airports, and local nonprofits, and promoting education through our Ethics Awards and Scholarship programs. These were but a fraction of the impact the Rotary Club of Harrisonburg has had on our community. Centennials, however, are not just about recognizing the people and programs that have gone before. They're also about casting a vision for what the Club will do in the future. So, President-Elect Wayne Witmer also took the stage to give those gathered a glimpse into what Rotarians could hope to expect over the next 100-years of service."
