  • I’ve mentioned several times the importance of training and continuing to expand our Rotary knowledge. This applies to every Rotarian – those that have just joined, those that are getting ready to serve in leadership positions, and those who have been members for 80+ years! Our incoming District leadership team values training and education and many of them continued to grow in Rotary through a recent training session.

Rotary Zone 33 held a membership summit and training seminar in Glen Allen, Virginia last weekend.  This is the first time in two years it has been held in person. Representing District 7570 was DGE Kathy Kanter, DGN Aaron Van Allen, DGNd Paula Alston, DMC Anna Lester, incoming DPIC Cora Gnegy, incoming DRFC Tim Carter, PDG Byron Brill, and the Rotary Club of Radford’s Treasurer Tom Alston. Thursday focused on membership. Participants learned how to develop membership plans, hold membership summits, conduct a club health check, put on a membership event, and discovered intentional strategies to develop membership. The District Membership team is planning a membership summit later in the 2022-2023 Rotary year to share the information with club presidents and membership chairs.

Friday and Saturday were breakout sessions, repeating and fine-tuning the membership information, as well as sessions on public image and The Rotary Foundation. Topics included elevating grant projects, how to take effective photos, best practices for gathering partners for global grants, raising major gifts, and how public image can increase membership numbers.

Numerous training opportunities are available to you throughout the Rotary year through Rotary Leadership Institute, Club Team Trainings available through the District’s YouTube channel, and through the Rotary Learning Center, among others. More than likely, if there is a topic you want more information on, there is a training out there!

Let’s continue learning and growing in Rotary!
