  • Brief Description:
The Rotary Club of Johnson City has a very active Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/rotaryclubofjohnsoncity/ and Twitter @RotaryJCTN.
Our Facebook page has had 235 posts between Feb 1, 2015 and Jan 20, 2016; this averages to 5 posts per week. Posts consist of upcoming events of our club, area club events, district news and events, and Rotary International news, new members, Paul Harris Fellow presentations, social and service projects, Rotary Foundation posts, motivational posts, and news of interest to Rotarians. We have uploaded over 300 pictures of our own Rotarians at meetings, participating in service projects, or enjoying socials.
We currently have 375 followers on our page from the TriCities area, District 7570, and have reached 39 different countries. We have had 1309 post "likes"; 56 post comments; and 69 post shares. We have a reach (the number of people who received impressions of a Page post) of over 26,000 on our posts with impressions (he number of times a post from your Page is displayed) totaling over 44,000. This year each quarter we are averaging 700 engaged users on our Facebook page.
Our twitter page has 72 followers and we have 231 tweets that include activities our club is doing as well as retweeting Rotarian's business or event tweets.
  • Participation of Club Members:
Contributions to social media are made by 5% of our club members.
We have 40% of our members following our pages.
  • Resulting Benefits:
The first benefit is keeping our club informed on what is happening in our club, district, and internationally in the Rotary world. They can miss a meeting an still feel like they were there.
The second benefit is we are reaching much further than just club members and Johnson City. Having reached 39 countries throughout the world is surprising and wonderful news to our club, because we are promoting Rotary literally throughout the world from our small town!
The third benefit is supporting organizations we partner with or have programs from weekly. This helps to expand their reach to people who may not know the good their organizations does and conversely they might be part of that organization and not be familiar with Rotary.
The last is it is fun. Rotarians and their friends love seeing pictures of themselves and others in action and doing good or having fun. We want the public image of Rotary to be a fun, vibrant organization that does so much good in the community and the world.
