  • Expected Start Date: 8/1/2022
  • Expected End Date: 4/7/2023
  • Expected Number of Beneficiaries: 5000
  • Describe how the project will benefit the community and/or improve the lives of the less fortunate: This ADA-accessible sensory music garden will benefit adults, children, senior citizens, families, alternatively abled community members, and local schools and care facilities within the town and in neighboring communities, even across state lines. This additional music park to our existing community park will provide a new interactive arts and creativity opportunity to children and adults. It will introduce individuals to the discovery of creating, making, and playing music. It is our hope that it will also put in place the foundation for a future connection to music by either playing an instrument, appreciating a concert or cabaret, or becoming a writer for anyone who plays any of these instruments in the park. Its location makes it accessible to all in our community and will provide opportunities that do not currently exist to young and old alike. Music brings people together without boundaries, and this project promises to do this for our communities and neighborhoods
  • Estimated Total Project Volunteer Hours: 80
  • Describe the Rotarian hands-on activities in the project (i.e. non-financial participation): Rotarians will be doing much of the labor such as planting shrubs, flowers, ground coverings, mulching etc. We will also be overseeing placement of the instruments by the town. Once the garden is planted our club will be assisting with the Town regarding the upkeep of the music garden
  • Describe the publicity plan to inform the general public that this is a Rotary sponsored project: As the project begins there will be a “Coming Soon – Rotary Sensory Music
Garden” sign. This will allow the public to know there will be a new addition to the Town Park. Through the Town Website, FB pages as well as our Rotary FB page, Podcast with the Town of Strasburg on a local radio station, we plan to keep the community informed of the progression of the Music Garden. At completion of project there will be permanent signage which will display the Rotary Wheel as well as the name of the garden. Upon completion of the Music Garden there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to include the Strasburg Rotary Club, town and county officials as well as members of the community
  • Cooperating Organizations – Please list each cooperating organization, if any: This is a collaboration with the Town of Strasburg. They are providing the land within the Town Park for the music garden. This land is located near the ADA accessible area of the playground and across the walkway from the Rotary
Shelter. The town will also be doing the installation of the instruments as well as general maintenance (mowing, weeding, watering) around the music garden area..
