  • Last week as I sat in the Opening Ceremony of the 2022 Rotary International Convention and watched the beautiful flag ceremony, I was taken back to our own flag ceremony at our District Conference and what it represents. The flags we present at District Conference are the flags of the countries that we have partnered with, in some way, over the past few years. We display flags of countries where we have outgoing or incoming youth exchanges and group study exchanges, flags representing our Ambassadorial Scholars, and flags showing where we have global grant partnerships.
     
    Many of the flags we showcase represent countries that we have supported through our donations to The Rotary Foundation. Take a moment to think about how many lives we have changed here locally and globally through our donations! It’s a bit overwhelming (in a good way)!
     
    Our generous gifts to The Rotary Foundation help to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.
     
    So, what impact can one donation have?
    • For as little as 60 cents, a child can be protected from polio.
    • $50 can provide clean water to help fight waterborne illness.
    • $500 can launch an antibullying campaign and create a safe environment for children.
     
    As we near the end of this Rotary year, we are in the process of gathering data and information to showcase how YOU have made an impact this year. We are on the brink of a record-setting year in giving and we are so excited to share and celebrate your accomplishments. Make sure to read my last weekly email that will go out on June 28 to see everything you, your club, and our District has been able to do to be able to serve to change lives this year.
