  • How did the Foundation start?   In 1917, at the convention, outgoing Rotary president Arch Klumph proposed setting up an endowment “for the purpose of doing good in the world.” That one idea, and an initial contribution of $26.50, set in motion a powerful force that has transformed millions of lives around the globe.

The Rotary Foundation is organized as a public charity operated exclusively for charitable purposes and governed by a Board of Trustees. The operations of Rotary International, a member organization, are overseen by its Board of Directors.

In the District, each club should designate a Club Foundation Chair. Each area in District 7570 has a designated Rotary Foundation Chair Advocate.  Your RFA is a liaison and resource for The Rotary Foundation (TRF) to your Area clubs.

The Rotary Foundation is highly ranked as a charitable organization.   It is unique in that clubs may, to a certain extent, determine the grant project and how the funding will be used.  Grants are available at the district and global levels.   For more information, or to have your RFA speak to your club, visit the District website to determine the RFA for your Area.   Having your RFA speak to your club to educate members about The Rotary Foundation will also count toward a goal in the Gold Club award
