Clubs have been asked to donate toward the Beds Project with the goal of building 100 beds at the conference! The Salem Rotary club introduced this opportunity for service through their partnership with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The organization is a non-profit that builds beds, at no charge to the recipient, for children and adults who literally have no bed. The link to their webpage is: https://shpbeds.org Sleep in Heavenly Peace states on their webpage:
“We’re a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling, and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need. Our organization has grown steadily over time, and we’re working on opening more chapters in different states to serve more people. No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!”
In 2018, Mike Rowe, featured Sleep in Heavenly Peace on his show, Returning the Favor. The program showcased organizations that are making a difference in their communities. There are numerous local chapters in each state. This link shows the episode where Sleep in Heavenly Peace is featured: https://www.facebook.com/ReturningTheFavor/videos/2020109721593621/
I encourage you to share this with your members or use it as a club program at a meeting. It will give more information on the organization and the Bed Project as our service project at the conference. Hope to see you at the conference!
