- In 2017, I led our District’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) team to India. While there, I formed numerous relationships with other Rotarians, learned how Rotary Clubs in India are supporting their communities, and created lifelong friendships.
In 2018, the GSE team from India spent four weeks in Rotary District 7570. They crossed our entire district – spending time with Rotarians, touring cities, and learning how our clubs operate. Those friendships that I developed during my time in India continued to grow as the team visited us here in the States.
Also in 2018, I went to the RI Convention in Ontario, Canada and met back up with some of my friends from India. While COVID canceled the RI Conventions in 2020 and 2021 and I didn’t get to see my friends from India in person, the friendships remained!
And here we are, in 2022, at the RI Convention in Houston, Texas where I get to see my friends again. The beauty of Rotary is that our relationships, projects, and resources cross borders and oceans to build goodwill and better friendships. What an opportunity we have through Rotary to connect with others!
If you weren’t able to attend this year’s RI Convention, I encourage you to consider attending a convention in the future. It’s something that each Rotarian should experience!
