  • Now that the new Rotary year has begun, we have opportunities to involve members and others with service projects, socials, Family of Rotary events, etc.  We need to continue to share our accomplishments with others through the news media; social media; and word of mouth.   Let’s not allow Rotary to continue to become a “best-kept secret" in your community.

By continuing to grow our clubs and public image we can recruit new members that will be an asset to our membership.   Rotary has evolved over the last several decades to include everyone and is embracing diversity and inclusiveness.   The classification requirement, as well as attendance requirements, have been relaxed to grow membership.  Clubs have more flexibility and autonomy to adjust membership requirements to meet members' needs.

The District also has categories for members as Active members.  A Corporate member may not be able to attend each meeting but can designate another individual (or several) to attend when they are not able.  This still meets their attendance since that person acts as the proxy.  There is also a category for Service.  This may suit a member who may not be able to attend each meeting but will participate in Service projects.  They may then attend when able but are not held to the weekly attendance requirement.   While these newer categories have been added to the District in DACdb, Rotary International still views these types of membership as Active members without the distinction designated in DACdb.
