- Describe the Project, its location and its objectives: The Rotary Club of Marion provides Educational Grants to teachers in the Smyth County School District that feeds into the Marion Senior High School.

- Describe how the project will benefit the community and/or improve the lives of the less fortunate: The Rotary Club of Marion provides Educational Grants to teachers in the Marion area schools.
The grant applications are issued to all teachers in the Marion area. The applications are issued and collected by the Marion Senior High School Interact Club. Teachers fill out a one-page application and turn into the Interact Club. The Interact Club will evaluate the applications following the guidelines listed below. Criteria consider are how many students it will impact, the shelve life of what they wish to purchase, and how the grant will help the students. Items considered must not be regularly budgeted items in the school's budget. After evaluating the Interact officers will make a presentation to the club as to whom they think should receive the grants and how much each grant will be for. Rotary Club of Marion Educational Grants Guidelines 1. All teachers in Smyth County Schools that are feeder schools to Marion Senior High School are eligible to apply for a grant. 2. Grant monies may be used towards the purchase of educational materials, supplies and equipment not covered by the school budget. 3. None of the money is used to supplement any income. 4. Supplies should be non-consumable. 5. Grant monies are not to be used for extracurricular activities. 6. The Rotary Club of Marion will directly pay for the materials, supplies or equipment approved in any grant. Grant monies will not be paid to individual teachers and/or schools. Grant applications have been sent to all teachers in the feeder schools to Marion Senior High School. Teachers are to return the grants by January 6th.

- Describe the Rotarian hands-on activities in the project (i.e. non-financial participation): The Rotary Club of Marion’s Interact Chair communicates with the school’s Interact Sponsor (faculty advisor for the Interact). All Rotary Club members are made aware via email when the Interact officers will be making their presentations. The week after the presentations the club will vote on their recommendations.
- Describe the publicity plan to inform the general public that this is a Rotary sponsored project: The grants are presented to the winning grant winners at our annual Awards Banquet. Our Public Relations committee will create a news release about the banquet including the grant winners and what their grants are for. This will be published in the local newspaper and the Rotary District 7570 newsletter.
