Rotary Clubs join to Benefit Ronald McDonald House

The Waynesboro-East Augusta and Rockingham County Rotary Clubs joined forces to host the first ever Ronald McDonald House Charites of Charlotesville, VA golf tournament at Lakeview Golf Course on September 28, 2012. The final tally is in and this first ever fundraiser grossed $33,370.00. Of this, $4,000 was split between the two Rotary Clubs and $24,952.63 went to the Ronald McDonald House after expenses.  With only two months of planning, this was an unbelievable response and almost double the initial goal of $15,000 in net proceeds.  Special thanks to John Matherly of the Waynesboro-East Augusta Club and Thomas Rea of the Rockingham County Club for organizing the event.  Additional thanks go to Al Boxley and Price Boxley, both owner operators of various McDonalds franchises, and Rita Ralston, Executive Director for the Ronald McDonald House Charites of Charlottesville.  The event was held at Lakeview Golf Course, just outside of Harrisonburg, VA with the help of their Golf Pro Mike Gooden.  The event was such a success that next year's event has been scheduled for Friday, September 27, 2013.  It has turned out to be a great signature event for both clubs and for the Rotary name.
