Linden, VA, Club Recognizes Five Paul Harris Fellows

The Rotary Club of Linden, Virginia, proudly recognized five Paul Harris Fellows on May 23, 2012. Area 1 Assistant Governor and District 7570 Governor Nominee Ron Mabry presented the awards, assisted by Linden Rotary President Lee P. Ruddle and Foundation Chair June Rinehart.
 
Melanie Hamel (pinned by President Lee) was recognized for her continuing contributions to The Rotary Foundation, which allays suffering, improves living conditions, and provides educational opportunities for young people throughout the world.
 
Carol Hardy and Danny McEathron (pinned by past President Dave Hardy and President Lee, respectively) were recognized as first-time Paul Harris Fellows because they have shown support to The Rotary Foundation as a Sustainer and because others believe that their lives exemplify the humanitarian and educational objectives of The Rotary Foundation.  
 
Jim Hamel and Joel Plauger (pinned by Melanie Hamel and Jean Plauger, respectively) were recognized as Paul Harris Fellows in special appreciation for the ways in which their lives exemplify the humanitarian and educational objectives of The Rotary Foundation.
 
The Paul Harris Fellowship was established in his honor in 1957 to express appreciation for a contribution of $1,000 to the humanitarian and educational programs of The Rotary Foundation. Foundation programs provide educational opportunities, food, drinking water, health care, immunizations, and shelter for millions of persons, and enhance international friendship and understanding. These activities are funded, implemented and managed by Rotarians and Rotary clubs around the globe.
