  • Brief Description: 
    The Club utilizes a no-cost media strategy designed to reach members, Rotarians throughout Area One, and the greater Frederick County community. The Club’s website, blog, Facebook site, twice-a-week bulletin, “QUICK READ”, and press releases to local and regional newspapers, radio and television, are used to promote routine club meetings and special events.
  • Participation of Club Members: 
    This past year the club worked on ways to improve communications within the club and expand its contact list with the full support of the Board. Club activities focus on promoting the positive image and good works of Rotarians locally and around the world. The PR Committee is responsible for the twice-a-week e-bulletin communication to the club and community via Club website, blog, social media. The Public Relations committee consists of 5 club membership, however all club members, through various event involvement, are actively engaged in advertising distribution, promotion, and use of social media. Members wear their Rotary pin or apparel including hats, t-shirts and accessories at events to further promote the Rotary image.
  • Resulting Benefits: 
    The media program is designed to target the entire community regardless of age, demographic or technology capabilities. Hence, the Club utilizes as many media resources as financially feasible.
    The internet is used to optimize advertising exposure at no cost to the Club. The website, blog and Club e-bulletin are aggressively used to communicate twice weekly to the full community. Our internet public relations strategy stretches well beyond the local community. The club also benefits from this resource in advertising special events; notably our annual silent auction, as bidders need not be local to win an item. Thus, we maximize charitable donations.
    Special events, such as signature fundraisers, are also promoted locally through print media and radio and local television advertising. This media source is utilized to cover those who may not be actively engaged in use of the internet and may be more likely to rely on traditional sources of news. Fortunately, we are able to utilize PSA’s (Public Service Announcements), which are free, on the radio and often on local TV.
