  • Dear District 7570 Rotarians,

As we continue to deal with the challenges of COVID-19, I hope you, your family, and friends are staying safe and healthy. It remains important to take precautions, especially clubs that are meeting in person. Masks and physical distancing are strongly recommended and show respect for
others. Please think of the 4-way Test: Is it fair to all concerned?

November is Foundation month. The Rotary Foundation (TRF), “Our” Foundation, as I first heard PDG Alex Wilkins describe it. And what an amazing Foundation it is! Our Foundation is rated 4-Stars by Charity Navigator and scored 100 out of 100 for financial management, accountability, and transparency. As Rotarians, we can trust that TRF is a good steward of our donations.

The Rotary Foundation's mission is to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace. TRF global grants promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water and sanitation, sustain mothers and children, improve education and literacy, strengthen local economies, and support the environment. Our Foundation is a worldwide leader in the efforts to eradicate polio as a founding member and partner in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). Since 1988, Rotary and its partners in the GPEI have immunized over 3 billion children, reducing the incidence of Polio by 99.9% and eradicating it from all but two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In August 2020, Africa was certified POLIO FREE! Rotary has contributed more than $2.1 billion and thousands of volunteer hours to eradication efforts. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation recognized the outstanding work that Rotary was doing to eradicate Polio and joined with us in 2007.  Since 2013, the Gates Foundation has matched every $1 Rotary commits to Polio eradication 2-to-1. Please join your District on Sunday, November 8,  5:30 pm, for "Cooking Together". Our Foundation Celebration and World’s Greatest Meal is a virtual fundraising event for PolioPlus. Most recently, The Rotary Foundation's Disaster Response Grants have made it possible for Rotary members to respond effectively to local recovery efforts as they unfold, and COVID-19 was recently added as an eligible activity. District 7570 received $25,000 from a COVID-19 Disaster Response Grant and divided the funds among the three Feeding America food banks that serve our District.

Rotary is also celebrating World Interact Week, November 2 - 8. Please remember to engage our Interactors in all of the ways that we are “Doing Good in the World.”

Thank you for all that you are doing for your local communities and our world!!

    Yours in Rotary Service,

    DG Nancy
