Area 4 Holds Community Event

The six clubs in Area 4 in Rotary District 7570 held a Community Service Day on Saturday, October 23 to support this month’s Rotary theme of Economic and Community Development, the Rotary Zone 33 Hunger Initiative to Feed 10 Million, and our efforts to End Polio Now.

To support economic and community development, the area held a very successful job fair with 24 employer groups that helped over 80 people find a job.  There were professionals available to review resumes and work on job interviewing skills.  A special thank you to the Skyline Connections Rotary Club for organizing this aspect of the day.

At the same time, in support of the Hunger Initiative, the area held a food drive and collected over 100 pounds of food for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, as well as cash donations.  This equals more than 400 meals provided to their community!

They ended the day with a Pints for Polio event at Skipping Rock Brewery in recognition and support of World Polio Day where the six clubs raised over $2,500 for the fight to end polio.  Ben Huson did a great job organizing this part of the Community Service Day.

It's amazing what can happen when clubs come together!  How does your area clubs come together to support your communities?  Share your stories on social media and write a press release to submit to your local media to help others know how Rotary is making a positive impact locally and around the world!
