Group Study Exchange (GSE)

2018-19 - District 7570 (VA/TN) to District 3510 Taiwan

The Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for business and professional men and women in their initial years of professional life. Rotary districts in different countries are paired to send and receive professional study groups of four team members and one Rotarian team leader to travel for approximately four weeks, staying in the homes of Rotarians when possible.

Launched in 1965, this dynamic program has built a successful track record at the personal, community, and international level. With good planning, a goal-driven itinerary, and active participation of dedicated Rotarians, a GSE can be an exceptional educational experience for both the visiting GSE team and local Rotarians.

Before applying for the GSE Program, we encourage you to read the GSE Team Handbook for more detailed information on the program including goals, objectives, and expectations.

Additional Information:
  • It is anticipated that you may not have a current passport and thus, if you are selected to represent Rotary, you will need to immediately apply for a US passport as it takes about two months to process. If you already have a passport, be sure your GSE application reflects the exact name as it appears on your passport and that you have at least a year left before expiration.
  • Interviews will be held at the Natural Bridge Hotel, Natural Bridge, VA.  Team leader interviews are scheduled for Sunday, September 9, 2018 and team member interviews are scheduled for Sunday, October 14, 2018.  The interviews will start about 9:30am.
  • The team will depart via air from either Roanoke or Dulles airports during March 2019. Tickets will to be purchased by Rotary for you and they are not refundable.
  • The 7570 district conference is scheduled for March 2020 at the Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia. The team is invited to attend and report to about 600 Rotarians what the trip meant to you.
